The Operations Manager position oversees the overall manufacturing process to ensure optimized production, manages workflow for multiple products within Printing/Die Cutting/Finishing operation and is responsible for a high-quality, cost-effective product. The OM should have knowledge and has worked in printing operation for preferably 3 years minimum. An Offset Printing and or a Flexographic printing environment producing packaging materials is most desirable. This candidate should have experience managing production workers on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Floor Responsibilities:
• Manage shift scheduling and relationships with production personnel.
• Track staffing requirements, recruit and hire new employees as needed.
• Oversee the planning and organization of the production process.
• Monitor the floor on a continuing basis to ensure equipment utilization is meeting requirements.
• Have the ability to conduct employee reviews for staff.
Product & Equipment Experience:
• Participate in product development activities which take place with new and existing customers.
• Have Knowledge of folding carton construction and how it relates to company capabilities, offset printing press, die cutting equipment and folding/gluing processes.
• Develop the ability to be key contact for both internal departments and external vendors who participate in the manufacturing process where we do not have capabilities.
• Has experience with Artwork / Color Management. (CMYK, Pantone System, Printing Variances)
Maintenance & Process Vision:
• Monitoring the condition of tools/materials and other raw materials to ensure customer commitment dates can be met.
• Conduct inspections of production machinery and facilitate repairs when needed.
• Conduct assessments to identify mechanical and procedural limitations that minimize work efficiency.
Process Improvement & Creation:
• Collaborate with Quality Control, Logistics, warehouse, maintenance, and other staff on the creation and modification of new and existing processes.
• Oversee production processes (including folder-gluer, die cutting & printing) to ensure efficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Oversee packaging process to ensure most efficient methods are utilized.
Management Reporting:
• Prepare cost estimates and budgets for proposals, as well as participate in monthly inventory count.
• Have an understanding of KPI's as identified by the company and be able to monitor and communicate results.
• Collaborate with European parent company on software and programming issues.
• Participate in reporting to management team on a weekly basis (including equipment utilization, order intake, backlog, equipment downtime, equipment repair)
• Participate in providing budgetary information.
• Recommend and justify capital expenditure items needed based on current & future needs.
Cross Functional:
• Work with and guide Supply Chain to ensure availability of paperboard materials, inks and varnishes.
• Work with and guide both internal and external logistics processes. Ensure material flow on the floor is efficient in terms of storage, ability to move efficiently and get to press in timely manner. Oversee the external logistics operation to ensure quotes fit needs and that information is stored in an easily accessible fashion for future reference.
• Work with Customer Service to establish good flow of work orders and communicate information as needed.
• Be able to handle press passes from a technical standpoint. Have knowledge of the effect of customer recommendations on our manufacturing processes. Be able to diplomatically steer recommendations in a manner that fits our capabilities.
• Work closely with Human Resources to develop training systems to improve employee development and plant production.
• Must follow standards for SQF certified company such as wearing hair nets and using hand sanitizer.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES
• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or related field required.
• Management experience required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams is a must.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred.
• Experience in MRP II, SAP or similar software would be a plus.

The Flexographic Press Operator's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Set up and run a narrow web flexographic press
Mix ink to achieve the color combinations requested by customer
Mount and register Flexo printing plates, print cylinders, & dies

The Flexo Press Operator position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Reads, reviews and understands the assigned and scheduled job according to the detailed specifications on the job ticket, QMS documents, the spec sheet(s), customer spec sheets(s), and proofs, including the approved press samples, in order to set-up and run the required equipment.
Is responsible for ensuring that all required materials and components for the job are available and at the press. These include; stock, dies, print cylinders, inks, pumps, color standards for premium colors, etc.
Inspects all components for acceptable quality before running the job. These include such items as dies, plates, stock, inks, auxiliary equipment, etc. Inspects samples for fine detail sometimes using tools as digital scopes, micrometers, spectrophotometers, fine rulers.
Selects the correct color sequence and makes needed adjustments to anilox rollers, doctor rollers.
Completes the make-ready and installs all required auxiliary equipment in order to meet or perform the necessary job specifications.
Test-runs using make-ready stock to verify the accuracy of the set-up.
Achieves press "OK" (match/approval) on the job proofs under the direction of the Production Shift Supervisor.
Proofs all copy and performs a die test. Compares die registration and copy placement.

· Coordinates activities with the Press Assistant to maximize the current job run efficiency while proactively preparing for the next job to reduce machine down time.
· Visually inspects and tests film for quality defects.
· Checks all tools and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure good housekeeping is maintained.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Minimum of 3 year printing experience in a flexographic manufacturing environment operating a Wide Web Flexo Printing Press.
· Experience with web-based software and ERP systems required.
· Basic computer skills, required. Basic math skills, required.
· Must pass the New Hire Base Assessment Test, which measures basic arithmetic and mechanical aptitude.
· Able to operate basic tools and measuring devices (tape measure, scale, etc.).
· Ability to read, write and speak in the English language to the extent necessary to effectively communicate and interpret instructions.
· Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· 12-hour shift work experience preferred.
· Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

Proficient computer skills, with particular knowledge in using Microsoft computer software, and equipment software programs.
Position requires ability to work on the production floor.
Evaluate production issues and observe equipment installation
Education / Experience
10 years manufacturing experience in the Pressure Sensitive Label Label / Tag industry.
BS/BA degree or equivalent a plus but not required
Must have working knowledge of internal manufacturing capabilities including die cutting, printing, laminating, and slitting processes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills and demonstrates attention to detail
